This year’s special Democracy & Books Weekend takes place at Costa Navarino on September 14-16, just prior to the Athens Democracy Forum.
The event coincides with Athens being named UNESCO World Book Capital 2018, and will bring together internationally acclaimed speakers, authors, key opinion leaders and influencers to discuss the longstanding interrelationship between democracy and books.
The weekend’s main discussion will feature distinguished speakers including Pascal Bruckner, Professor and writer, Stanley Johnson, Author, Environmentalist & Former Member of the European Parliament, Alexandra Pringle, Group Editor in Chief at Bloomsbury and Rob Riemen, author and founder of the Nexus Institute.
Speakers and moderators from The New York Times, include: Mark Thompson, President and CEO, The New York Times Company, Roger Cohen, columnist for The New York Times and author, Pamela Paul, editor of The New York Times Book Review, and Serge Schmemann, author and Member of the Editorial board at The New York Times Company.
