At a time when daily life is punctured by a series of global crises – from climate change to the pandemic to all-out war – the quest for happiness seems ever more elusive, and even a bit indulgent. But more people than ever are seeking it out.

Costa Navarino will welcome world-acclaimed authors and speakers to lead discussions and debates during ‘The Democracy and Happiness Weekend’,  taking place from 30th September to 2nd October, 2022 in partnership with the Athens Democracy Forum, at the brand new W Costa Navarino.

The annual weekend will explore the role of happiness in public life, through discussions and talks featuring motivating speakers, such as acclaimed author Pascal Bruckner, the award-winning German neurophysiologist Wolf Singer, who will cover a variety of topics exploring whether a happier society equates to a more resilient democracy and Professor & acclaimed author Yascha Mounk. The discussions will be moderated by journalists of The New York Times.

Philosophy Walk

Discuss about modern-day ethics through the lens of ancient Greek philosophers, against the idyllic backdrop of the Messinian countryside.

Led by Dr. Eleni Volonaki, Professor of Philosophy, the discussion takes place during a leisurely walk amidst centuries-old olive trees.
