In line with these underlying principles, we design properties that offer sustainable living through energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources. Costa Navarino Residences are developed to the highest standards of sustainable building design, construction, operation, and lifestyle.

Aimed at minimizing the overall environmental footprint, the design, construction, and operation of each residence must comply with the requirements of Greece’s new energy performance regulation (KΕΝΑΚ) for Energy Class A buildings.

Construction & Operation

Site Sustainability

EROSION CONTROL:
Retaining walls and blankets (geotextiles, etc.) on steep slopes; control of run-off direction and velocity; protection of storm sewer inlets.

RESTORATION:
Revegetation of disturbed construction site.

NATURAL LANDSCAPE:
Minimum impact using indigenous plant species, retaining forest areas, avoiding use of invasive plants.

Materials & Resources

CONSTRUCTION WASTE MANAGEMENT:
Engagement of companies that haul, collect and process recyclable debris from construction projects.

CERTIFIED WOOD:
Use of wood products solely from certified and responsibly managed forests.

REGIONAL MATERIALS:
Use, wherever possible, of locally sourced building products and materials to reduce transportation.

RECYCLED MATERIALS:
Use, wherever possible, of products made from recycled materials.

RAPIDLY RENEWABLE MATERIALS:
Use, wherever possible, of materials able to regenerate themselves in 10 years or less.

Energy & Atmosphere

ENERGY SAVING:
Optimal building insulation, insulated glazing, waste heat recovery and reduction of air leakage.

HEAT ISLAND EFFECT:
Green roofs and shaded hardscapes to reduce cooling loads and heating of the environment.

BIO-CLIMATIC DESIGN:
Preference for natural ventilation and evaporative cooling, as far as possible, over mechanical ventilation and air conditioning.

APPLIANCES & MECHANICAL:
Use of appliances and mechanical installations with green certification; insulation of ducts and reduction of leakage.

LIGHT POLLUTION REDUCTION:
Minimization of upward light; use of shielded outdoor fixtures, motion sensors/timers; lowering of illumination to safe levels.

RENEWABLE:
Use, wherever possible, of energy from sustainable and renewable resources.
