Α contemporary interpretation of rural living

“Driven by a desire to respect and blend harmoniously with the unique natural environment of the area, this residence is a contemporary interpretation of rural living in Greece. It constitutes a modern representation of a more “primitive” design, with massive volumes inspired by the region’s traditional architectural forms, creating a synthesis with open and shaded outdoor areas, offering idyllic views of the beach and the sea.

The villa comprises of two geometrical volumes making a clear distinction between private areas such as bedrooms and the more open living spaces. The swimming pool provides a water element that both separates and connects the various outdoor areas. The fully transparent entrance area, in between the two volumes of the building, offers a breathtaking, unobstructed view of the sea and provides the first grand impression of the experience of living in this villa. Privacy is maintained with robust elevations towards the road; however the living area has extensive openings to the large courtyard in front, blurring the boundaries between indoor and outdoor and creating a seamless experience of leisure and tranquility. Natural elements such as stone, marble, water, air, light and shadow, create an atmosphere that enhances the sensory realm of architecture.” ISV Architects
