Potiropoulos + Partners were named “Winners” of the German Design Award 2018 in the category “Architecture” for the outstanding design quality of a Navarino Residences villa, at a ceremony held on February 9th, in the context of the Ambiente fair in Frankfurt am Main.
The German Design Award honors innovative products and projects, developers and designers who pioneer in the German and international design scene. The German Design Award has organized since 2012 by the German Design Council, the expert for branding and Design in Germany.
According to the architects, “This private residence opens itself to the panorama of the sea, from which its compositional “idea” has been derived. Organizational zoning was attempted- vaguely reminiscent of a wooden pier – which gathers all activities. The “disguises” of the element of water, establish a set of visual relationships between the building and the landscape. The villa thus becomes a mediator between the user and the location and evolves into a narrative field.”
The German Design Awards Jury commented that “The formally clear and open architecture of this vacation home creates a connection between the swimming pool and the sea. An elegant design that appears to almost flow into the sea.”
