It’s late afternoon at Navarino Agora, and the waterfront is suspended in that brief pause before the evening properly begins. A couple of boats rock gently beside the dock while staff busily set up a pop-up bar and prepare the stage for a concert scheduled to begin at sunset. Families and groups of friends wander slowly between the restaurants and shops, stopping to look through windows or greet familiar faces returning for another season. The scent of grilling food drifts through the square as the sun lowers over the marina and more people begin to gather, gradually drawn toward the lights, the music still to come, and the easy anticipation of a summer evening by the sea.
Navarino Agora reopened for 2026 in time for Easter, marking the beginning of a new season at Costa Navarino. Open to all, it draws on the idea of the ancient Greek agora as a place of gathering, exchange, and community. Since its introduction in 2022, it has settled into that role with ease – a village square functioning as a hub for gastronomy, retail, culture, and entertainment for both residents and visitors. We visit often. Through the summer months, we return for plenty of exciting events, but just as often for unplanned evenings of dining and wandering.

Next Up: the 2026 Program of Events
Throughout 2026, a lively program of events is set to bring renewed energy to Navarino Agora. Spring began with Easter celebrations, followed by May Day and the Boho Beats & Blooms Festival, which we visited and which featured a concert by Monsieur Minimal. May also marks the return of the Messinian Jazz Festival, presented in collaboration with Gazarte and Costa Navarino Soundtrack. As summer unfolds, the Gazarte Nights series brings artists such as Panos Mouzourakis, Kostis Maraveyas, and The Swingin’ Cats into the open air, while the W Cocktail Festival pairs mixology with live music, including a performance by Michalis Hatzigiannis.
Evenings will take on an atmospheric tone during the Candlelit Full Moon Nights, with tributes to Manos Hadjidakis and interpretations of Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons,” as well as open-air cinema screenings and stand-up comedy featuring Lambros Fisfis and Giorgos Chatzipavlou. August introduces the Panigyri at Navarino Agora, followed by the Messinian Terroirs Wine Festival, where visitors can meet local producers and enjoy tastings and conversations focused on the grapes of the region.

Dining and Shopping
Our first visit this year held more in store than we expected, shaped by a sense of discovery as we came across new restaurants and stores. New arrivals in 2026 include three street food concepts: Monolith Burger, serving smash burgers with bold flavors made with high-quality Greek beef, soft potato buns and signature sauces, all made with high-quality ingredients; Tsikna, which revisits the Athenian souvlaki tradition; and Berytus, where Lebanese flavors are reinterpreted in a street food format. Guacana introduces a mix of Peruvian flavors, sushi, and cocktails, while Chillbox offers frozen yogurt and waffles assembled to taste. Around them, the menus of familiar venues such as Santorre, Barbounaki by Papaioannou, Kostarelos, Brews & Bakes by Coffee Island, and Cellier Wine Bar continue to evolve with the seasons.
In retail, the arrival of Katsika from Tinos introduces an ethnic-boho collection of clothing, accessories, and homeware, defined by timeless design and distinctive character.

There’s news for the youngest members of the family as well. At the new PLAYMOBIL Kids PlayPark, a unique pop-up experience inspired by the journey of Odysseus, children rush between large-scale PLAYMOBIL scenes, recognizing familiar stories and characters while inventing adventures and myths of their own along the way.
This sense of discovery extends into the everyday experience of the Agora. The culinary scene moves fluidly between the familiar and the unexpected, while the retail mix reflects both place and outward perspective – from fashion and jewelry to objects for the home. Around it all, spaces for open-air entertainment and interactive experiences create an environment centered on connection. By the time we leave, we’ve already made plans for our next visit.
