HOSTED BY THE NEW YORK TIMES ‘ATHENS DEMOCRACY FORUM’ AND COSTA NAVARINO, 15-17 SEPTEMBER
Am 15./17. September 2017 werden die International New York Times für ihr nächstes Diskussionsforum für Demokratie im Rahmen des Athener Demokratieforums nach Costa Navarino zurückkehren.
In diesem Jahr werden international anerkannte Regisseure und Schauspieler, wichtige Meinungsführer und Beeinflusser zusammenkommen, um die Beziehung zwischen Demokratie und Film zu diskutieren.
Teilnehmer mit Interesse an Filmen und Demokratie haben eine einmalige Gelegenheit, bei einem Ausflug an einer unvergesslichen Wochenendveranstaltung in einer entspannten Umgebung teilzunehmen und in authentische Erlebnisse einzutauchen.

Attend an exclusive screening at Costa Navarino’s private cinema. The thought provoking short film has been specially created for the Democracy & Film discussion with the aim to present highlights from well-known films that constitute bright examples of how films influenced the political scenery during their time and vice versa.
Philosophy Walk on Democracy & Film
Discuss “Politics & ancient drama” through the prism of ancient Greek philosophical thinking. A discussion led by Dr. Eleni Volonaki, Professor of Philosophy, takes place during a leisurely walk in the idyllic Messinian countryside, amidst hundreds of centuries-old olive trees.
Art Tour
Take a guided tour of original works dating to the 17th-19th centuries, while learning the fascinating history behind them. During the tour, you can also admire the original creations of contemporary Greek and international artists.
Astronomy Night
Become an astronomer for a night and investigate the cosmos from a Messinian viewpoint. This exploration of the night sky is offered by Navarino Environmental Observatory and Navarino Natura Hall, together with the National Observatory of Athens.
Messinian Authenticity: Traditional Cooking Experience

Visit our picturesque village home and delve into traditional Messinian cooking with the help of local women who will share authentic family recipes passed down from mother to daughter. Followed by a traditional dinner with the ladies.
