The Messinians are strongly attached to their age-old cultural traditions, organizing colorful festive celebrations or solemn rituals throughout the year.
Almost every week locals and visitors feast, drink, sing and dance to celebrate a saint's day or the harvest of the land in village squares or local churchyards. There are more than 64 panigyria (festivals) celebrated in the region, many of which last for days.
At Costa Navarino, a weekly program of events, introduces guests to the region's customs and traditions.
